Wow! I don't know what to say. One brilliant 1969- half. One 1971 Triple D.
I almost got skunked!

I do have one observation: There were many 1971-1972-1973 rolls that looked
like they have never seen the light of day since they were minted. Just brilliant,
shiny, almost uncirculated coins. In fact, the crappy-looking coin was the exception
in these two boxes.

Quite a few of the coins had very smooth edges. I don't know if that makes them
error coins or not.

The WF ordered the coins from the Vegas Loomis. I'm guessing that Vegas Loomis
ordered the coins from the Fed Vegas Branch or even the FRB in San Fran. Makes
me wonder what other nice coins are sitting in the San Fran FRB vaults....

whats a 71 triple d? never heard.

and i could be wrong, but i believe the halves with the smooth edges could be from too much time in the slot machines. which would make sense if they came from vegas.

Look at the picture.Denver mint mark and 2 other D's stamped,1 @ 3 o'clock & 1 @ 9 o'clock.Hence triple "D"

Very rare indeed.

The 2 D's to the left and right of the portrait were punched in later by an outside source. Those are not extra mint marks. If there were such a creature it would be worth a considerable sum. For known repunched mintmarks see Dr. Wiles book on Kennedy half varieties.
