1976 Penny Error? "in"

Found this penny goin thu some rolls. Can someone tell me if this is an Error? Or damage?

I'm no expert but I believe it to be a mint error. Probably caused by a couple of small cuds. FWIW.
 

It's a die chip inside the "N" Really has no value other than a cent IMHO
 

I'm no "expert" either, but I concurr with usandthem. I have several pounds of pre-1983 pennies. Among them I found 163 - 1976 pennies. The only mint missing (for some reason) is San Francisco. I could find none with this anomaly.

My best advice?: Ask a professional.

Thanks! After I posted, I got curious and looked it up. I guess that's a good reason for not having one.:laughing7:

As I said, I'm no expert, hell, I'm not even sure I know enough to be a novice. I just check my change, then drop wheaties in one jar, copper memorials in another, and zincolns in another to be "recycled".
The closest I come to being a "collector" is, I weigh my 1982 pennies to make sure I don't recycle copper ones. :laughing7:

The last circulation penny made in "San Fran" was the 1974-S.
