Posted this in general forum by accident as well. Wanted to share this pretty awesome buttton I dug today. Came up 71-73 on at pro about 5 inches down. Didn’t find much else just a wheatie and friend found a couple buckles but overall great day out. I am trying to figure out what he is holding in his lower hand.the back is blank I believe.

That is an incredible button! Very cool!

Awesome find, congratulations! :occasion14:

I’m not 100 percent it’s a firefighter button. It’s just a guy yelling fire. Haha

I’ve seen some caste iron plaques online with the same design but zero buttons

That’s a beautiful old find. Congrats

Awesome button! Congrats! :icon_thumleft: Whatever he's holding it looks like it might be on fire. Looks like smoke coming from the thing.

Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Very nice button! Based on research it seems to be the logo of the Associated Firemen's Insurance Company of Baltimore, Maryland, which was founded in 1848. Your button's design matches the original logo of that company, and overall has a mid 1800's look to it. If it was actually issued by that company than it is a rare find indeed, while I found reference to plaques with the design (most of them reproductions from the 1960's), I couldn't find any buttons! Great find!!

Thanks for that research that’s awesome

Very cool button. I think this worthy of further investigation, you may need to track down a specialised fireman button collector or museum.

I’ve seen anything like that one. Congrats on the killer find.

Fantastic! Superb. Cool as all heck. Congrats on a wonderful piece of FF history! Sub 8-)

Cool button, rare.
Congratulations
Originally, I thought it was a "Lamp lighters" button.
These were people who were employed to light the gas street lamps in London.
