1st Big Fall Post. Jews Harp Old Gold Ring and A Ton Of Old Coins and Relics.

Hello everyone,

Hope everyone is getting some swinging in. Getting to be a good time of year again to start swinging.

I've been hitting some old home sites with a few Tnet members as well as doing some solo coin shooting hunts.

I've had some decent hunts and I've had some slow hunts. Some notable finds are my first Jews harp only took 27 years to find one.

It was really deep and I almost didn't dig it but glad I did. It was a nice example too.

I also found a nice 1920 class ring at an old swimming hole. Some various common silver coins. Nothing too old or special.

Tons of wheats and indians including a few decent dates.

One interesting find was a 1852 2 1/2 dollar gold coin old counterfeit. I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me but there not.

Braided hair liberty head on front and eagle on back for sure counterfeit gold coin.

Didn't clean up well but can post a pic of it later.

Had a nice season so far and hope to add to the totals over the next few months.

I cracked last years silver totals Sunday not shown yet with two more to give me 119 YTD.

Check this coin out. Unless someone can i.d it as something else im seeing a 1852 or 54 2 1/2 gold coin.

The degraded state does look suspect. However, if it’s gold it’s legit. You can get an acid test kit for like $10.

Honestly, of course you want it to be legit but either way it’s still a sweet find

Jer I really like you're eye spy assortment of finds. Really fun to look at all your finds. The 185? $2.50 coin is absolutely a fake. My mom found a 1854 O $2.50 coin under an old rug in the last house she bought. Oh her coin is real. Believe me I've scanned that coin a dozen times to memorize the signal. Its a 15-16 on the Equnox. Congrats on that once in a lifetime find. More rare than the real thing for sure.

I think you should post more frequently because your catch up posts are sheer overload
It took me forever to find a complete brass Jews Harp. I had found crappy iron ones, and broken brass ones, but didn't get a complete brass one until two years ago.

Yes,

Gold coin is fake for sure. Hit a 21 22 on the Nox. It's copper and probably had a gold plating at one point.

It's a damn good solid counterfeit. Too bad it didn't hold up well. Just can't seem to get the coil over a real one. The fake blew me away.

Probably harder to find a fake one than a real one. It came out of a old home site I decided to check. Place appeared to be hunted before.

I'll second that one. Way to many built up finds. I almost just put them all away and didn't share them.

I just get so busy with life etc that I don't have the time to even clean up my finds anymore.

But thanks for checking them out anyhow. Yeah the Jews harp must be a tough relic to come by then.

You've hunted a lot more early sites than I have.

Great hoard of finds! Is the horse piece the button you found at the old site? Cleaned up nice. Fun to find oddball find like that fake period gold coin. Congrats
