Congratulations, does it still jingle??

Thanks, ATW. It certainly jingle but the pea inside is pretty corroded. It's not nearly as loud as I thought it would be.

That is awesome, congrats!

Good job. Thanks for posting it!!!

Nope, not a sleigh bell - those won’t have the spru on the top. Nice bell. Here’s a bit of excellent reading, enjoy!

Thanks, Scrappy. So is a crotal bell also called a petal bell? Mine seems to fit both descriptions and I'm guessing it's mid 19th century.

Congrats on the corbel bell! Doesn't matter what size they are it's always a smile on the mug when retrieving them. In my assortment of dug bells they date back to the 16-17th century.
The greatest part of getting a dug bell is tooth picking the dirt out, then bell rinsing it out, then just hearing it jingle after 100's of yrs of being silenced in the dirt is so cool.
Not many finds will function after being dug as this-that's why these little keepers are so special to me.
Display it well, pick it up jingle it every once in a while, and you will see what I mean, it's just something about them that makes a person smile within.

Congrats on your first bell. Crotal, Sleigh, or Cow, those are always nice to find !

I love crotal bells, congrats on your first!

In Britain this size Crotal bell (or Rumbler) would be used on a sheep or goat.

Good insight. Always wondered what the small ones were used for.
