Seeing all the gold finds and bronze age relics in the banner bar makes me envious... Nonetheless I made my first small eyeball finds after a long time.
First one: a 1912 20 lepta (1/5th drachma) I found walking in the street... Happy when I picked it up, then I saw it looked worn down (first dissappintment..) then I saw the rim that had traces of the cast, that gave my happiness the rest, a fake coin, damn. Well I'll keep it anyway, as a "lucky" charm.

In the afternoon I took a long beachcombing walk, along the rocky beach at my hometown. At some point I sat down to try to reach for a nice piece of driftwood. I was startled by a noise like someone exhaling near me. So I noticed that I was near a (for lack of a better word...) "breathing hole" in the beach rocks. We have some of these here in the rugged rocks, small holes connected with cavities under the water line, that when a wave rolls in make this breathing sound as the compressed air escapes through them.
So I went over the rocks with my hand to find the stream of air coming from the hole and found thatn the air came from under a loose round rock. When I picked it up under it I found this small (1,8cm, about 3/4 inch diameter) green, salt water encrusted coin! Could be one of those old coins made from a silver-copper alloy back in the old good days...
I cleaned it up to see how old it was, well ot cleaned up nice, it's a 1954 50 lepta (half Drachma) coin with the Greek King Pavlos on it. It's a nickel-copper coin, no silver yesterday but it was waiting there for me to find it for probably more then 60 years so I'm happy to have found it.

Maybe people were dropping coins down the "breather", kind of like a wishing well, before it was covered up by that rock I picked up?... I'll have to get back and check.
Hope you enjoyed my story :-)

Good story recovery! Nice cleanup!

Treasure is where you find it, sometimes the locations are mind boggling.
