1st Hunt of 2011...the Hatchet Vs. Tomahawk Debate!

I was planning on hitting an early site that i had recently received permissions but conditions were less than ideal...ground is frozen solid. Plan "B" was to hit the wooded areas and hope for the best. This was found miles away from any houses or roads and was about 8 inches deep. It is most likely a lathing hatchet but I'm holding out some hope that it could be a tomahawk...input?

I would say hatchet .

Either way, I'd say electrolysis - maybe pull up some markings or stamp off of it...

Where I come from,we call those a "SHAKE SPLITTER".Especially if the hammer end has the WAFFLE pattern...
