I just spent 4 days in the Shenandoah Valley, VA. I got to hunt the 1924 farm house that we rented plus the front yard where I found a 1928 Wheat Penny and a 1946 Silver Dime. Then I got to hunt a 1849 farm house and this is where a 1904 Indian Head Penny. VA Finds-a.jpg VA Finds-b.jpg VA Finds-c.jpg VA Finds-d.jpg

You found some very nice iron relics too. I believe that axe has some age and looks like you found a lid from a pot bellied stove. Don't think I have seen one of those posted here. Good finds:icon_thumright:

I was in shock when I found my first Indian Head Cent... because before find my first Indian Head Cent, I found an 1805 Large Cent, an 1838 Large Cent, a 1723 Wood's Hibernia Halfpenny, a toasted King George II Halfpenny (1727-1760), and a 1650's French Liard. Can anyone explain this?

Rusted Gold

Thanks for the reply, I live in the N.GA mountains and there is a ton of Rusted Gold from homesteads and moonshine sites. Most of it I've taken to be recycled but I kept some for my own enjoyment. - Ray Minton

These are old pic's and a portion of my finds. That 11" metal spearhead, with a 4" shank was made by a blacksmith from a carriage rim (I bent it prying it out from under a rock). Plus multiple rings, one is silver with a date 09-02 (1902). I think one of my best finds after digging a hole, in the dirt pile was a beautiful perfect 1 1/2" arrowhead with sharp serrated edges. I've located 25+ moonshine sites, all have raided by the man and destroyed. No coins but plenty of scrap metal, it's hard to believe but I've carried over 2,000lbs out of these mountains to the recycle plant, it all adds up.

Nice pics you've added. I grew up in south central Ky on the Tn border in a part of the state that is dry ( no alcohol sold legally ). My father used to tell me stories about a location where men used to gather to drink and gamble away from the joy killing eyes of their wives, lol. Hopefully someday when I return for greater than a week, I can go check out this place. Thank you for reminding me of it!
