Detector(s) used
Minelab Safari with SEF 8x6; coming soon: FORS Gold+
Hey folks,

I haven't really done a whole lot of detecting the past couple months. My 87-year old mother who has lived with me for the last two years passed away in mid-April and I just haven't really had much heart in detecting. Add to this the fact that my area is pretty dry where it concerns silver coins. So, today I headed up to the old school (built in 1883) where I had found my last silver coin, a Standing Liberty half dollar, and was getting skunked until I hit the front of the school. I thought I was gonna dig another penny when this 1895-S barber dime popped out. I've found quite a few silver coins in my years of detecting but all have been post-1900. So this actually marks my first 1800s silver coin...I guess I'm getting closer to my seated dime goal!

HH,

Ray

Thanks for the comments, everyone. Yeah, it was nice to see silver coming out of the ground again, and especially an oldie like this one.

Very nice silver! Pls post pic of cleaned dime, too. Looks like a full LIBERTY. I wouldn't mind finding a few of :icon_sunny: :icon_sunny: :icon_sunny:those.

Thanks again, everybody!

Tuberale, I think this coin is a semi-key date, so rather than clean it myself I think I'm gonna take it to a coin shop to have them do it.
