2 2nd's- eagle head and silver
headed back to the WV site where i found the eagle head in nove. (and have found other interesting stuff over the last year or so- harmonica reeds (3), brooch, musket ball, and others. i decided to head across the road to where my grandfather remembers a barn. i found some large iron things, unidentifiable then dug up this eagle head (great signal, of course) only a few inches down. it is still attached to something, wood or leather, i didn't clean it, thinking that it might ruin the base and take away the value and/or interest- let me know what you think> this 2nd eagle was about 50 yards away from where i found the first. after finding nothing else of interest, i went up to where the old house was located. i have avoided this area since there is so much modern trash to wade through, but was glad i did since i found my 2nd silver ever (the first was a barber dime found in the yard there), a 1920 mercury dime!! i was there only about an hour while my husband was listening for turkeys
and found both of those. the next day i headed out at 5:00am while my husbanc tried w(without success) to call in a turkey, after 5 1/2 hours hunting i found lots of trash and clad quarters (2) which were actually deeper than the mercury dime. the soil in this area has been pushed aorund by bulldozers to fill in the foundation, etc
, so i can't tell much by depth. thanks for looking and sharing the joy! (oh, the bottle pieces and decanter top were found while digging around the barn area)
