Today I was searching the beach near a 1700s fort during the revolutionary war. I found these two buckles (if anyone can help me identify the type before I dive into my own research that would be great) and 2 cylindrical objects - I don’t know what they are or how old. The gold diamond ring I assume modern. The age of the larger cylinder by look at least seems to match the buckle.

The round copper item is used for soldering 2 copper water pipes together.

The smaller buckle seems closest in shape to a 1700s French waist belt buckle like B190 in this picture ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1569776894.470081.webp

Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Nice finds, congrats! :icon_thumleft:

Looks like you had a good day nice relics and ring

Nice day out. Congratulations

I can see 1 buckle - a Spectacle type, but very tough to date, as they used that style for hundreds of years.

One colonial artifact expert I’ve talked to says the other larger buckle seems like one that would be used in early colonial era for a shoulder belt, maybe a sword belt - European style 1600s to 1700s

Well if the expert stated it, it must be true. I assume you talking about the rectangular shaped piece that isn't a buckle?

Congrats....love to see those diamonds !!

Thanks Steve!

Here is the book and the page with similar buckles. The first two in the second row are similar to yours.

Awesome info and pics Steve - much appreciated

Very nice saves on the buckles. Hit this site again.

I want to go back and use a higher frequency on my Deus and/or change my audio response so I’m hearing any faint signal or small objects better. I’m detecting and digging through a very rocky beach terrain - and I’m sure I could tweak my wet beach settings.
