I got out today with Paco and KirkPA to relic hunt the farm that has been super productive over the past few months. I began in an area that contained a homestead in the mid-1800s. It wasn't long before I got a nice "P" on "Penny" reading on my WHITE'S. So, I dug down, and was rewarded with my first Yankee Infantry coat button. I then started to grid the area painstakingly slow, while acting suave when numerous cars went by. I was sauntering down my grid path, and was startled with a "Nickel" reading. This relic turned out to be a Yankee cuff button.

After my short break, I attempted to work my same pattern, hoping to get at least one coin from the area. I was acting like J. Walter, turning my head from side-to-side in hopes of locating some pottery; non-glazed is 1700s and glazed is 1800s, as stated by Mr. Walter. I eventually got a "D" on "Dollar" reading, which turned out to be an 1854 Braided Hair cent!

Paco, Kirk, and I all agreed that this chap came home from fighting in the Civil War, and settled in this historic village. We agreed that he used his infantry buttons on his civilian clothing or quite possibly wore his war coat. Thanks, bud, for dropping a Braided Hair and two of your butttons! :D

I will let KirkPA post what Paco found today. I will give you guys one hint: it was his first... ;)

Zoy, I am very proud of you for finding the Civil War buttons. They are definitely not common in our area. This farm is so fun to relic hunt...one never knows what the next siggy will turn out to be.

By the way, I think I may have to dismantle that detector of yours now...you are becoming too lethal...hahaha.

Congrats Zoy, on those great finds. Really like the buttons. If you found them in Ohio, I can tell you 330,000 soldiers in the Civil War came from the Great State of Ohio. Guess what, they lived somewhere and a lot of them lived in log cabins, in local towns, on farms.

There are a lot of relics to be found in Ohio.

Again, Congrats, HH, Ringfidner

Some good finds. Too bad the LC is a little green. Any chance it will clean up better with some chemicals?

I can speak for my bro...we don't clean our coppas anymore than by rubbing dirt off of them. Paco and I were giving him numerous handshakes over these buttons. Heck, the nearest battlefield is about 2.5 hours away....these are rare in our little area. hahaha

Good stuff; I enjoy the flair with which you guys describe the adventures of your hunts!

Thanks, guys, for the kind replies!

Nice finds Zoy and co.., you all should make a video and post it on "youtube" since we have a direct link to it now on this site. That would be too cool. You guys always come up with something good.

Bud, we are thinking about doing that one of these days. We just don't want to give away the site though. This farm has been fun to hit and we know there is a lot more oldies to be found. ;)

Some really cool finds and a great place to hunt. Congrats to ya!

Great job on those buttons. I am still searching for any military button. Other than the West point one I found. Looks like your site is chock full of surprises...Well done dude.
