Great finds. I especially like those 3 tombac buttons. I'm not sure if my eyes are playing tricks on me but I think both of those coins are connecticut coppers.

Hi Roger! Great assortment of finds you are getting there in CT. Love the Tombac buttons! Congrats!

Regards, Erik

Thanks Folks! Both Coins were ID as a Woods Hibernia as well as a CT. That's my 2nd KG I as well as my 3rd CT. Can't wait to get back!

Really nice finds. That large tombac with the starburst design spectacular! The pewter button on the left looks like it is convex with a raised rim that is mostly gone, but pewter + convex + raised rim is a good sign of a Rev War button. I can almost see some numbers or letters on it if I strain my eyes.

Those two tombac buttons with the fancy etched design details are very nice! :icon_thumright:

The classic Folding Hunter Buck Knife is a great find also! This is their signature design, Model 110, first introduced in 1962. These are guaranteed FOREVER and still made in USA to this very day. If that knife ever fails, (and even being one found in the woods), they will repair or replace it good as new. :) Wonderful American company and fantastic customer service!

Many years ago, I found a Buck Model 501 folder while metal detecting on a salt water beach. The brass was oxidized, the wood grips were weathered, and the locking spring was broken. However, the fine quality stainless steel blade was nearly unblemished and still carried an edge. For several years I used this as my general purpose repair work knife while working on my boats. One day, a bit of over strenuous prying on my part with the knife (wrong use on my behalf), resulted in a snapped blade. A quickly penned note, along with mailing my now broken and badly weathered Buck Knife to their customer service department, resulted in a shiny Brand New knife arriving free of charge in my mailbox from Buck Knives a week or two later!!! I still have this fine knife, using it regularly.

Thanks! Are you referring to the most complete pewter button? If so, it looks like it has arrows pointing into the center which is a star or sun bust.

No, I was referring to the one on the left in your pictures of the three pewter buttons. I'm sure if there was anything on the button, you would have already noticed it.

Oh ok. Hopefully I can pull something that I can link to the Rev. War. Based on the items I'm finding I think I got a pretty good shot. Would be nice to see a GW button come up.

I have to believe this is a virgin site as it's not on the maps & no tell tale signs of piled up iron.

Congrats on some nice old buttons and coins Rebel. I agree with everyone that those are some beautiful Tombacs. Hope you make some more great finds at that hunt site. :icon_thumleft:

honestly a bit jealous, I feel your excitement and know you won't forget this day, your probably reenacting each find while your trying to sleep.Congradulations

You have a copper ring in the pic with a pistol ball and toasted Jews Harp, do you have any idea what it is? I dug one the other day in the field that we got all the coppers from. Most finds were in the late 1700s to mid 1800s. I was wondering if it might have been part of a musket stock.
