I hit a field today that I've not been to before. During the summer it's impossible to detect because of the dense growth. About two hours into the hunt I got my first coin. A 1943 Australian Florin LOVE TOKEN! My first! When I pulled it out I originally thought it was a reale, but when I saw that it was a love token I got even more excited. On top of that, the inscription (which you can't see in the photo) has the name of a very prominent family in my area! I detect for about 2 more hours, only finding a 1927 wheatie. I decide to head down the street to another spot for a bit and when I get to the car, the Florin is gone! It fell out of somewhere while I was digging or when I answered my phone :( :( :( :( :( :( :( I was enraged to say the least. I went back out in search for it and found a 1943 Australian Shilling that's pushed out!! I believe it's called repousse? Anyways, I'm very sad that I lost my love token, but at least I know where I lost it.

And you have the equpment to find it. Good Luck!!! BS

Retrace your steps, you will get it back. I can imagine it would make a Honorable Mention if you were to return it to the family and find out the story behind the token, there could be a little old lady who is still alive that still remembers when her husband gave her that token back when they were dating.

I def plan on researching the name when I find it. As of right now, I only know the last name, didn't have time to really give the coin a decent inspection in the field.

Man you have to find that token again! :'(
Sounds to me like it really needs to be returned to it's rightful owner! :icon_thumright:

Good luck and I hope you find it.

Why would there be two holes in the coins?

Usually that means it was converted into a kids toy, called a spinner.
Sometimes to make the coin a dress attachment.
Great finds, please go back and find the token. I lost a Barber dime once, it still haunts my dreams.
