2 Loaves of Bread & a Gallon of Milk ?

perhaps he was joking but the weatherman
said we are getting a snow storm which will
last about 24 hours.
But at the End he says it's a
2 Loaves of Bread & a Gallon of Milk Storm :-\

why do people think they need to run out and
stock up on bread and milk every time
there is a treat of snow ?

other then the fact the bread shelves and milk
gets low in the stores because everyone
thinks they need to stock up.

Vicious Senseless Circle :tongue3:

Re: 2 Loaves of Bread & a Gallon of Milk ?

It does seem that today the weatherman tends to play things up a little. They have people running to
the stores stocking up milk, bread, toilet paper, etc. with only a dusting of snow predicted. Last week
or so, they even had a guy on TV giving 'winter driving' instructions after calling for a dusting of snow.
Not like the old days when we used to walk 3 miles to school, barefoot, in 3 feet of snow & of course,
uphill both ways. :D

If you are a weatherman, your product is the weather.

The more people are worried about it, the more they will watch the weather reports.

Took the words out of my mouth!

Re: 2 Loaves of Bread & a Gallon of Milk ?

I've always wondered about that bread and milk thing. :icon_scratch:

When we (in Alabama) get snowed in, I buy beer and something to grill. That's a day or two off for me.

Re: 2 Loaves of Bread & a Gallon of Milk ?

Well myself, I go through a gallon or more of milk at least every week, and I eat a lot of bread. I love Cuban bread, and glass of milk, and 7 or 12 grain bread.............

Re: 2 Loaves of Bread & a Gallon of Milk ?

dang my dad went to the same school...are we related?
====================================================================
Sounds like it, don't it ? I think all our Dad's regardless of where they lived went to the same kind
of school house. I just wonder how them people back then where smart enough to build those schools
exactly 3 miles from 'EVERYBODY'S' house. Must'a took some serious planning. ::)

I had to talk about snow. I think it started snowing as soon as I hit post. We must have close to a foot
out there now, still snowing & not supposed to let up till 6AM Sunday morning. Just another part of
enjoying the 4 seasons here. ??? Yeah right.

If it makes you feel any better we are suppose to get down to 40 tonight.... ;D

Jeff, You forgot Toilet Paper?

The county I work in (MD eastern shore) had an automated phone call to all phone numbers in the county (Talbot) warning of an approaching storm and to stay in Saturday.

We got at least a foot, blowing. Hope they plow by Monday.

I feel bad for folks that don't plan ahead and put themselves at risk running out to panic buy for a couple days of inconvience .
3 months of home confinement might raise a concern for us .

Re: 2 Loaves of Bread & a Gallon of Milk ?

Here in Europe, people are like, no big deal, snow. However, I WISH I had listened when I was in college when Hurricane Isabel came through Richmond, Virginia, we had a week with no power, no hot water, no nuthin'. Nobody had candles or anything, our dorm house was dark for a WEEK! But there were things to do in the dark though, if you could put up with the no shower thing :laughing7:

Re: 2 Loaves of Bread & a Gallon of Milk ?

I keep 5 1 gallon jugs of water in my stand up freezer at all times, have 5 gallon water cooler, keep can foods in pantry, have propane cooking stoves and lots of flashlights. We buy candles at garage sales, we find 6 & 8 inch pillar candles, only been lit a few times for .50 cents each all the time. Besides our central air we have small AC in bed room and small AC in family room, and access to a generator when needed....

Re: 2 Loaves of Bread & a Gallon of Milk ?

When a bad storm is coming in, I make sure that I have 2 thirty paks of Genesee beer and a sack of potatoes. I'll be ok for a few days. I can fetch water from the spring and I heat with wood.

Usually it is bread, eggs and milk - all you need for Apocolyptic French Toast!

Re: 2 Loaves of Bread & a Gallon of Milk ?

Wait a minute....I thought the bread and milk thing, mixed with the snow thing was an Alabama exclusive! You mean they say that there too? :icon_scratch: :D I often wondered...why would anyone want bread and milk? Wouldn't steak and potato's taste much better? ;D :D The '93 storm found us without power for an entire week. I don't think I have eaten as well since then. Everything that was thawing in the freezer got put on the grill. Yummmy! It was like going on a camping trip with my neighborhood. :D

Re: 2 Loaves of Bread & a Gallon of Milk ?

down here in Florida we have something similiar with the hurricanes, what goes first at at mention of a cane coming is water, batteries and plywood. Of course all gas pumps are packed tilt they run out. We live in the country and our area was without power for 11 days one month when we got hit by 2 storms back to back. I of course had long since bought a 10k Baldoor generator and have it hooked up to the house, we bathed in the pool. people will do crazy stuff, they buy everything they can and people who really need it are wtihout, but when the storm passes, they all return the items
