Hit the same park I have been hitting when I get free time. Found 2 more large cents in the same area where I pulled the Irish Hibernia Half Penny yesterday. The first was a 1821 and the second is worn real hard so no date. There was also 3 modern quarters, some square nails and a gum ball ring in the same area. One of these days something big will come out of there. I have a real good 92 vdi signal but it is under a real big root so I need to bring some different digging equipment. Do not want to scratch whatever is under this 3+ inch root. Any Ideas? Thanks for looking.

NICE find on the 1821. Key date. Believe it or not, my 1821 LC was the very FIRST coin I ever dug with my metal detector about 8 yrs. ago. CONGRATS. I always thought they should be worth a little more than what they are. Only 389,000 minted.

WOW ~ I'd love to find a large cent! Those are very rare in my neck of the woods! NICE!!!!

Congrats on the super finds! I've never even seen a large cent in person.

Nice finds!

As far as that signal under the root goes...

Dig on either side of the root as neatly as possible and then go in from one side and use your fingers to push the target out from under the root to the other side. I think a pinpointer is a "must" for this type of work. Yes, you don't want to scratch it, so dig carefully. A pinpointer will also give you an idea of the object's size. I'm always interested in what these items are, so please get back to us and let us know. I got into a pocket spill of IH's one time in the middle of a bunch of tree roots. I had to dig carefully for each one and use the method I just described.

Regards,

Buckleboy

Congrates on the Large Cents!

I always enjoy a crusty old large cent ;D
I hope the good signal under the root is something good.
