So I decided to get to these two cabin sites before the snow.they sit at about 4000 feet and we have already had a dusting of snow up there.these 2 sites are right by each other and we're built near a tunnel they were working at around 1890.one has a definite cellar hole.i dug a little out today just to see and it looks like maybe the floor may have been lined with wood.other than that I just walked around with the detector to get an idea what was around.these cabins were burned down by the forest service in the 50s I belive.a few highlights are a Winchester 12 gauge leader shell with paper still inside.a old button with a dog on it and a date of June 11 1889 on the back.a rogers silver metal maritime spoon.call it that because it has anchors on it.and a ja folgers pioneer flavoring extracts bottle.quite a bit of other little things also.will be heading up to this place again next year with a sifter also.the first cabin pic you can see the hole next to the fallen tree.the other is a pic to the right were the other cabin site is.
