Hello!
I got out today for a couple hours after work ~ it was such a nice day!! I headed back down near the University of Oregon. I dug a bunch of clad, an old 3 Merry Widows condom tin (I haven't looked inside it yet), and I dug two 1961-D silver Washington Quarters together in the same hole! I love it when that happens!!
After looking at the quarters under a magnifing glass I noticed that one of the 1961-D Quarter is a die variety error~ repunched mint mark! D over D. You can see a light D just to the north of the main D. This is a known variety ~ listed as 1961-D 25c RPM #2 D/D North (see pic from John Wexler's THE RPM BOOK).
Thanks for looking!
Neil
