2 Unknown SILVER antique bowls/cups with "13 1/3L" hallmark...
Well.... thought these are not 'detecting' finds, my sweetie and I do consider our thrift store finds as treasure. Problem is, we cannot figure out what the heck these two cups are.
So, after a week of fruitless searching, I have an excuse to come back to this wonderful site and hope that you can all get some enjoyment and intrigue out of this while helping us out. We appreciate any and all insight.
We collect silver, and I believe these to be some form of silver/sterling, but I don't want to scratch test until I know what they are. They appear to be very old. One is 2 1/8" diameter and the other is just under 2 1/4" diameter. Each one sits just over 1" tall. Both have primitive decorative engraving on the outside, and one has a shallow, reeded lip while the other has a thicker, smooth (ish) lip. One has 4 letters included in the engraving but I can't make them out (TTJK??).
Both of these bowls/cups share a hallmark stamp, which is "13 1/3L" Clearly, the "L" cannot be liters. The rest of the hallmarks are foreign to me. If I was FORCED to guess as to the country of origin, I would say India merely because of the rough engraving, though I have not seen hallmarks like this from that country.
