I went to a huge little league baseball park today. I pulled out a 1941 and 1944 wheat penny. I also found what seems to be some type of counterfeit dime. Tails only!! Also found a good bit of clad and a Canadian penny. All in all not a bad hunt. The 1941 penny is my oldest coin I have found. I'm inching back in time ever so slowly.

Thx for looking. HH

Who the heck would counterfeit a dime? It looks real to me, just a tad bit o'scraping on the face. Ha...Take it to a store and see if they notice the face when you buy a cup of java with it... HH........jgas

I never find nickels either, If I turn the discriminator towards foil, screw caps I usually will hit them., but then all I do is dig trash...

Maybe its a toy dime, its metal but doesn't ting like silver. It also seems to be a bit larger then a normal dime. Beats me!!!!

That might be a mint error. It looks like one to me, but I am not an expert, and looks can be deceiving.

Post it in the Coin Roll Hunting forum, or the coin forum, and see what they say.

Well, I was examining the coin earlier tonight and I was able to bend it with my fingers. unless they make soft coins that probably cancels out any chance this coin is real. Oh well, I'll keep trying to find my first silver coin. Thanks for the help.

Cool digs but if your disc-ing out the foil and screw caps... you missing the jewelry. Quote: As Lonewolfe once said," the road to gold is paved with pulltabs." unquote.Good luck with the rest and keep at it.HH

Probably missed a lot of gold jewelry :( but I did find a silver ring last year. I just hate digging trash. I guess its well worth it tho. I'm gonna have to go back and adjust the discriminator.......

Nice finds JR  Good hunt

I wasn't finding nickles either. I resently cut back on my discrimination and I started finding them. Johnny

I dug 40 pull tabs to four pennies (one 1950) yesterday- but that gold ring will be worth it
