After Labor Day, a beach about 20 minutes from me is free daily to the public. From Memorial Day through Labor Day it's $20. No thanks.

I hit the usual suspects at the start (pavillions, fire pits, volleyball nets, playground, and entryways/exits) and kept finding clad. There was plenty of junk, too, but who cares. I was having a blast.

About 2 hours in I got the beep. A nice strong tone. I said "Another quarter!" before I dug. Nope. It turned out to be a "golden dollar". My first!

I also found 12 quarters, 4 dimes, and 4 pennies. All clad. So be it!

Great day!

Don't cha just love those $1.00 plugs. :headbang:

Congrats on your finds, and especially the Sacagawea! :occasion14:

Congrats on the dollar coin and other finds

Cool find! I like that coin, also found one recently but even if it's clad, it has a place on my display shelf.

Congratulations on your finds. I especially like those dollar coins. Even the gold presidential ones. They don't seem to hold up in the ground for an extended time.

one hole for a $1 sure beats 4 to a 100 holes for the same $1

Congrats on the Saca dollar.
I tried a little salt water hunting at a few Connecticut beaches. They told me that the $20 parking charge helped to keep the Riff Raff out.

Phishfindr, did you check if it was a Cherios? You might be lucky.

Awesome find! I found my first Sac dollar last week!

Thanks bill_wabo. I had no idea what you meant until I googled it. Then I grabbed my loupe and checked it out ASAP. It's not one of them, but I learned something new today. Very cool!

Sure love the big value coins! :occasion14:

The Logic behind the Riff raff out is pretty sucky if you ask me, just another way to get $$$ out of the general Public, which has reached RIDICULOUS proportions, I can say that I HATE DOT GOV.for that reason, what Next?? a Nose picking Permit?? Oh, I already paid for mine so I can Pick in public. (Kidding) I tell the state of Oregon to kiss my Butt every chance I get when it comes to stupid charges.

Congrats on your first dollar coin. Thankfully it wasn't that scary old HAG Susan B. Anthony!!!:o:icon_pale::tard: You are coming along nicely.:icon_thumright:

I'm with you on this one! I have never found a dollar coin in my decade or so of detecting and then WHAM! I found seven in one honey spot coin drop on the beach in Santa Monica a week ago. All of a sudden at the edge of the dry sand, I began getting all sorts of weird sounds from my CTX3030, and began digging dollar coins one by one. I thought I was done at six, and then found another nearby. There was also a couple of dollars in misc coins, so I walked away with nearly ten dollars from one spot. And weirdly enough, later that day, I found another dollar coin in the sand, no where near the others. Again, I have NEVER found a dollar coin previously.
