I just found this nickel and was wondering what to call it? I know that the metal flow from a die chip is usually referred to as a die chip and larger metal flows are called cud’s. But, at what point does one become the other?

What should I call the error next to the 7 and to the right of the T?

Thanks in advance

I’d call it a die chip. It’s not connected to the rim or edge so it’s not cud.

check the '06 to present Jeffs-- many have die chips on left side of Monticello, the die clash...eyes under the steps, and hornet nests in the doors & windows---- crappy issues made by the slackers in Philly
