Re: 2009 Season done for me

Hang in there, eagle.Time will pass.Maybe you have some finds that need cleaning or displays to fix up.Offer your friends the opportunity for you to clean, oil, fix there fishing reels, etc. You'll find something to occupy yourself, but the main thing is like monty said, wean yourself off as much of the meds as fast as you are able to.Goodluck and God bless.

Re: 2009 Season done for me **UPDATED 09-14-09 Week 3**

The "pins & needles" - numbness has pretty much left the hand and upper arm, the forearm still has numbness. Haven't gone completely insane yet. After driving 20 miles round trip to the local Walmart, I am ready for a break. This weekend was feeling 100% better and almost had a stupid attack thinking I could go out and swing the detector for 20 minutes. But, common sense stopped me at the last moment.

Dr. lifted a restriction so I can lift 10 lbs. straight up (no swinging or movement involving twisting) I couldn't even do that at first, but now can at least pick up 10 lbs. I had no clue that 10 lbs can cause so much pain in the spine.

Completely weaned off meds, now only need Tylenol.

Week 3 is here and 9 more to go :BangHead: The Mrs. hasn't threatened me ...yet, bit I still have time to achieve that goal. :laughing9:

Yeah...Get into the research mode. Get well and take it easy. I would rather miss a few months now than many later. Take care, it will still be there when you get better. :icon_sunny:

I think the above says it all :hello2: Spend your time planning next years hunt and perhaps come up with a few new interesting areas to hunt. Also work on getting permission if needed. I see that you have come a long way since your first post and you seem to be recovering at a good pace. Be smart and don't push it, you only have a little more downtime left. Hopefully soon you won't even need the Tylenol

UPDATE
Dr. cleared me to go back to work Dec. 1 :hello2: The family can now quit plotting my demise.
Still have slight numbness in the right forearm and thumb, Dr. said it may take up to 18 months
for that to go away if at all. He still put me on restriction of not doing anything stupid or intentionally over doing it.
Finally filled my downtime with housework, yeah I can wash clothes. Reading, research and small amounts of woodworking.
A couple weeks ago the urge to go out detecting the local football field was intense, but I had to do some deep breathing exercises and behavior modification to control it :laughing7:
Thanks for all the replies.

Walks are good to ease the pain, I know. Besides you might lose weight if you don't get bored doing nothing but eat potato chips, Salt and Vinegar is my down fall.

Get well soon, :hello:
Sandman

I gained 4 pounds! Cut back on the feed bag too! Musta been the lack of swinging a detector that caused that gain ;D
