2015: Hunting Is a Harsh Mistress

Picked up three boxes of halves today. One box was a skunk, but the other two each gave up one 90%er and four 40%ers!

The first box gave up my SECOND 1893 Columbian half and four 40%ers! 8-)

Breakdown for the first box:

1893 World's Columbian Exposition commemorative
1967 x 2
1969D x 2

The second box gave up a frosty-looking Ben and four 40%ers:

1957 Ben
1967 x 4

awesome boxes!!! congrats on the silver commemorative!

Very nice! I am very much hoping to find an old commemorative half.

Picked up two boxes of halves yesterday on my lunch break, one of which was a skunk. The other box gave up six keepers, a 90%er and five 40%ers:

1917 Walker
1967 x 2
1968D x 2
1969D

8-)

Great early-date Walker! What's the condition like? I had a similar box this past week... I'm excited to get my next order for the first time in awhile!

It's very worn, and there is a mint mark on the obverse. But I can't tell if it's a "D" or an "S". It was late last night when I finished searching, so I was tired and couldn't get a good look at it. I'm going to try to get a better look at it tonight.

Sweet find either way!

That's an excellent find! Either way, a 1917 with an obverse mint mark is a winner all day long.

Sure is! That beats my oldest walker by about 20 years. Great job :)

I'll upload pics of it tonight, hopefully I can figure out which mint it's from.

Give us a close up of the mint mark, I am sure we can verify it for ya :)

I looked at it with a crappy magnifying glass, I'm leaning more towards it being from the San Francisco mint. Under the magnifying glass I could see some faint lines which, to me, would indicate the top and bottom concave curves of an "S".

Man, I just can't get any good pics.

I can confirm from looking at your pictures, that is indeed a Walking Liberty half dollar! :)

In all seriousness, I can't tell anything.

Haha! Yeah, the pictures suck. I tried to take one while holding the magnifying glass over it, but that came out even worse.

I know, mine are awful. I could have the most high end camera made and they would suck.

I checked it out on my computer tonight also and I still can't tell what it is.

I'm going to pick up a loupe this weekend, hopefully it'll help identify the mint mark. If not, then I'm content to know that I have a 1917-? obverse mint mark Walker.

Anyway, picked up three boxes of halves yesterday. Two of the boxes were skunks, but the other gave up a 90%er and a 40%er:

1964
1967

I also think "s", regardless, congrats!
