2017 Recovered Coin Review (1899 or older)

Below are the different types of coins I recovered in 2017 that had dates of 1899 or older. The two oldest coins this year for me included a 1722 Nine Deniers and a 1723 King George I Hibernia. The oldest silver coin was a 1785 Carlos III 2 Reales.

US Coins
New Jersey Copper
½ Cent - Draped Bust
One Cent - Draped Bust
One Cent - Classic Head
One Cent - Coronet
One Cent - Braided Hair
One Cent - Flying Eagle
One Cent - Indian
Two Cent
Half Dime - Liberty Cap
Nickle — Liberty
Dime - Liberty Cap
Dime — Seated
Dime — Barber
Quarter — Barber
Half Dollar — Seated

Foreign Coins
Nine Deniers (France)
Carlos III ½ Reales (Spain)
Carlos III 2 Reales (Spain)
Fernando VII 2 Reales (Spain)
King George I (United Kingdom)
King George I — Hibernia (Ireland)
King George II (United Kingdom)
King George II — Hibernia (Ireland)
King George III (United Kingdom)

Best of luck to everyone for a great 2018!

Sick. Sick sick sick. East coast lies. They'd have us believe that LC's and colonial coppers are jumping out of every sandbox over there. Right ?:censored:

Aside from the Barbers, I couldn’t fathom finding what you up-North guys find.:laughing7:
Congrats on a great year!

Yes, I totally realize I'm very lucky to live in NJ as a detectorist.

Now, the flipside is I dig on old farms most of the time and I'm 50/50 at best on being able to pull a date of a KG or US copper. The chemicals used on the farms are brutal for the coins. I was unable to pull a date from any of the four NJ Coppers I dug this year.

I'll be digging in the UK in March with Brandon Neice and I can't wait to dig a Roman hammered!

But even if those east coast guys DO post pix of LC's, colonial coppers, busts, etc.... I still don't believe it. If you look closely, you'll see that they're merely pictures of the same coins over and over and over again. They mail them back and forth to each other. Then stage them in convincing "in-situ" reveal photos. Merely staged for pictures with a little bit of photo-shop paint-shop editing. Don't be fooled !!

Ken, did you get those Largies I sent you before Christmas?

You know ,,
I never get tired of looking at pictures,,

Most of the coppers are ugly as hell...lol. You can see the best one I dug for each type here:
