Possibly that headstamp code is for:

United States Cartridge Co., Lowell, MA

[FONT=lucida sans, arial, sans-serif] [/FONT]

United States Cartridge Co, they used the following headstamps: U.S., *U.S CARTRIDGE CO*,U.S.C. CO. or RL (1869 to 1936).
