23 40%er's today and the $90.00 North Georgia Dumper

Went around to nearly every single bank in my county today buying up all the halves in the trays and vaults.

Noticed something peculiar - nearly every bank had either $90.00 or $180.00 worth of halves in their vaults. I figured I was buying up someones dumps since they were all in ninety dollar increments. I assume he was spreading out his dumps to prevent each bank from accumulating enough to send a box back to the Fed.

He will henceforth be known as the "North GA $90 Dumper".

Anyway, I bought up nearly $700 worth of halves and in spite of the assumed dumping, still managed to score 23 40%er's.

I will be ordering my first two boxes from my local branch this Friday. Should be here next week

Yeah, I've just been hitting teller trays for the last few months and hadn't done too bad, but now I'm spending the kind of capital required to do this seriously. Today was my first day really going "hard at it". I have only went trough 1 "real" Fed box so far and they were dimes in clear plastic so I could just rim-check them. I still have one local bank left to raid for halves, as the teller was shorthanded today and could not get someone to accompany her back to the vault to get the coins. I'm going back in the AM to clean them out. I think today I was mostly rooting through CWR's and someones $90 dumps. I found 11 in one roll.

I have to admit I'm pretty surprised with the results, as I have heard repeatedly on this forum that the silver was "drying up" out there.



EDIT: Forgot about the $500 worth of halves I got skunked on that I picked up from a local credit union a while back.

Thanks! I'm pretty happy with the results, though I realize it can't go like this each and every time.

I just want to let everyone know you can't get discouraged with these skunks, as they are bound to happen.

The dime box skunk and the credit union halves skunk I experienced had me down, but I knew I just had to keep at it and put more $$$ into it if I ever wanted to find a decent score. I knew the stuff was still out there solely based on the meager teller tray scores I had been finding.
