Hello Everyone,

First I would like to thank Mike (ratman) for introducing me to a park in the Valley which has become a "silver mine" this past week for me. Mike, Curt(Bibleman), Jon(goldenapples, on Tues.), and myself have been detecting the "secret" park this week, and it really has been producing. Mike told me the park had been detected by his and his Dad's White's machines in the past, but not Explorers. This morning started out great for Curt and myself. I had just arrived at the park and saw Curt swinging his Explorer already. He walked over to me with a big smile on his face and showed me 2 Washingtons and 1 Rosie he had just dug out of one hole...Wow!!! :o I proceed to turn on my SE and walk a little way down from him, and the first signal I get, I dug down and pulled out 3 mercs and a wheat in one hole. Curt couldn't believe it, neither could I. ::) We both scored multiple silver holes. I've been to this park three times this week, and scored 11 silvers on Monday, 7 on Tuesday, and 10 more today. Most of the silver coins are mercs and rosies, along with 2 Washingtons. Average depth of the coins is around 3-4". Amazingly shallow for a CA park. Even though they are shallow, you really have to cherry pick these silver amongst the tons of trash, clad, and underground electrical disturbances. My machine was hardly ever quiet throughout today's hunt. It was chirping like a bird all day long. I was hoping for a silent area of turf to keep me from going insane, but couldn't find any, so I took a few breaks to let my ears recover... :P

The second pic is interesting. I dug a wheat, and what I believe to be a crusted steel penny on top of the wheat, along with a rosie that was sitting on top of the steel penny. Also got a small sterling pin, which reads "Ladies".

Mike and Curt, it was a pleasure to hunt with you two today, as always. Love that park, Mike!!!

Thanks for looking,
CAPTN SE
Dan

Dan thats insane you pulled another ten out of there today, That park truly is loaded and i look forward to going back there. Were you guys in the corner we finished up in the other day???

Congrats.. I went out for day 3 with the SE... not the same luck you have.. i am not giving up however.. I went to a Northern CA park Circa 1910 ( i know its not that old to many east coasters ) ... My detector sung like a bird all day... But no solid repeatable signals in the ranges that would indicate coins... all the deep targets i could isolate would ring out sometimes like a coin, and the on the next few sweeps high on both ferous and conductivity... I tried a very slow sweep pattern... the solid coin signals i got were all shallow and rang out exactly as i thought they would..

WTG on the great finds and the great park.......

Sorry White's owners....I really wasn't trying to badmouth the detectors....I was just simply stating the facts of hunting at this park....my buddy along with his father had detected this park for a number of years with whites machines. They did pull silver out of this park, however, they detected it enough until their total daily good finds from this park diminished greatly. Over the past two weeks, three md'ers, myself included, have been swinging Explorers there, and have found over 50 silver coins and lots of wheats. My buddy was surprised to see the daily high counts of silver/wheats being pulled out of this park all of a sudden. I'm not saying that a Whites machine could not find any of the silvers that the Explorers found....my another md'ing buddy was swinging a Whites machine on Tues. with me there, and he managed two silver coins. The ground is very trashy, with lots of iron, underground electrical disturbances, and highly mineralized ground. The Whites machines here on the West coast cannot pull the numbers of oldies out of the ground as the Explorers do here due to high ground mineralization. Maybe in other parts of the country, both the machines are equal in low-mineralized ground, but not over here. I'm a member of a large online detecting forum in CA, and nobody who owns a Whites machine is pulling the quantity of oldies out of parks here compared to the Explorer users....that's not my opinion, that's the facts here on the West coast.

I'm a dedicated Whites lover, but I do agree under certain conditions different machines will out do other machines, and vice vesa when the conditions change. That's a great total you are building. Congrats on pulling out all that silver.

Exactly!!!!

:o Dan: Another BIG Congrats to you on all the silver. That park is one heck of a silver bank. Wish I were there!! I'm glad you stated the differances in detoctors and the type of soils and interferances you have to contend with. No one detector can do it all even though we all think we own the best detector out there, fact is we do. What we use is the best for each of us. Well stated Dan.
HH and keep that silver a coming

Amen to that! :D

That's insane !!!

It's hard to find virgin sites these days with that kind of history..way to go!

I would also agree with captn_se's comments about the effectivness of different machines in different locations. Here in the gold fields in Colorado, I see mainly see Minelab and Tesoro. That is not to say no one uses Whites out here, on the contrary, there are a lot of dedicated Whites users in the Denver metro area. Even though I'm a dedicated Tesoro user, I am going to get a DFX for my next detector for the cityfied( I know, thats not a real word) areas. But, for me, in the nugget fields, the Lobo Super Traq is the best detector for the minerlization with out having to spend $2500 on a Minelab.

Captn,

That is truly awesome. 3 days you found more silver than I have ever pulled out of the ground. And once again when I look at your count in the signature section all I can say is WOW what a find count for this year. You must really do your homework very well.

Awesome!!

I have to agree with the Captain.

The other night when I found my four silvers the XLT simply did not locate any of them first. Once I found them and had Baldingboy run over them with his XLT the machine simply would not lock on and give a good solid reading on the coins. Now to be fair we were hunting in an old yard with a TON of trashy signals and I think that is what confused the XLT. One other advantage the Explorer had that night over the XLT is that I could sweep my coil much slower than the XLTs to get a good repeatable signal.

BB told me I could post this and I am NOT slamming Whites. BB has proven how good his machine is on our hunts. He is the only one of us that has a pre 1900 coin, an IH and the Un Centavo. He has found WAY more clad than I have. And most importanly his zipper pull count is like 4 times mine. :)

I guess even in these forums we have to be politically correct

I guess even in these forums we have to be politically correct, well I'll say what some are not saying, the Explorer is a superior machine. I used to own an XLT and got bored with it and graduated to an Explorer 11. I went over the spots that I hit with the XLT and found silver coins that were missed. People in general are afraid of change, so why should this be any different.

You didn't hear this from me but I think BB is looking into an Explorer... :o

Way to go Dan...raid the park and ruin it for everyone else!! You ought' to be ashamed of yourself....Well..not really!!

you can go over any site you've been to with the same machine,, a different machine,, a different day,, a differt additude,, different ground conditions. and so on and so forth....
you'll still find things you missed,, that's just the way it works....

all i was saying was any whites would have gotten any silver coin at 3 in...........especially small pockets of them,, unless the user decides not to dig........

also any tesoro
minelab
and so on......

oh,, GREAT finds dude !!!!! it don't get much better in my book .. ;D

Great yr for sure Capt.

I'd do very well in your Ca parks also. I am a true expert at park hunting. I don't get in to it any more on brands of detectors. But I've owned a Dfx for 6 yrs.

I have went to all of my parks in the area. I have pulled out thousands of old coins also. My parks all have been hunted hard over the yrs to. I just know my unit better than the rest out there.

The Dfx most folks never get past the pre set settings on the unit. So it isn't a very deep unit under those programs. You'll get a solid 4-6 inches on coins.

Bigger items it will get deeper. But if you can truly learn the unit and it's 46 pro adjustments it's really a great unit. Not many people wanna spend the time or have the time to do it.

The point is people wanna speculate what is the best unit out there. The best unit out there is the one you can master. It takes thousands of field hrs and finds to learn.

Sorry for the ramble on your thread. Once again great silver yr and I'm sure your gonna get more.

HH Jer
