Hello Everyone,

First I would like to thank Mike (ratman) for introducing me to a park in the Valley which has become a "silver mine" this past week for me. Mike, Curt(Bibleman), Jon(goldenapples, on Tues.), and myself have been detecting the "secret" park this week, and it really has been producing. Mike told me the park had been detected by his and his Dad's White's machines in the past, but not Explorers. This morning started out great for Curt and myself. I had just arrived at the park and saw Curt swinging his Explorer already. He walked over to me with a big smile on his face and showed me 2 Washingtons and 1 Rosie he had just dug out of one hole...Wow!!! :o I proceed to turn on my SE and walk a little way down from him, and the first signal I get, I dug down and pulled out 3 mercs and a wheat in one hole. Curt couldn't believe it, neither could I. ::) We both scored multiple silver holes. I've been to this park three times this week, and scored 11 silvers on Monday, 7 on Tuesday, and 10 more today. Most of the silver coins are mercs and rosies, along with 2 Washingtons. Average depth of the coins is around 3-4". Amazingly shallow for a CA park. Even though they are shallow, you really have to cherry pick these silver amongst the tons of trash, clad, and underground electrical disturbances. My machine was hardly ever quiet throughout today's hunt. It was chirping like a bird all day long. I was hoping for a silent area of turf to keep me from going insane, but couldn't find any, so I took a few breaks to let my ears recover... :P

The second pic is interesting. I dug a wheat, and what I believe to be a crusted steel penny on top of the wheat, along with a rosie that was sitting on top of the steel penny. Also got a small sterling pin, which reads "Ladies".

Mike and Curt, it was a pleasure to hunt with you two today, as always. Love that park, Mike!!!

Thanks for looking,
CAPTN SE
Dan

Yes, I agree...Any Whites machine would have found a coin at 3"

I have even pulled a few from the depths of 5" with my Whites Machine.

I really don't understand the arguments here?? Who gives a rats behind what detectors people use, Kirk, you like Whites, great for you, Whites loyal, great for you, that's your choice and happy you like it, same with anyone Else using a Whites. I choose what I want because its my money and I'm happy with my success!! These posts are to let others see what finds are being made and not a bunch of crap about who owns what! On any given day no detector is better than others because one can point to a good and a bad about any one of them. I am NOT brand friendly because not a single company PAYS me crap. I buy what I think will do the best for ME and ME only! When another detector comes along that I feel will help me in what I want to do, then I could care less who makes it, I'm getting it to benefit me in my hunts! Jer DFX makes a great point and I also see it with my friend who has a DFX. Most people stick with the presets and don't make changes and have luck, success but their DFX can do so much more. My friend calls almost daily and talks about changing sweep speed and all kinds of other settings adjustments because he feels he can go deeper. I'd say many don't come close to what he does and what he pulls at 10 inches 75 % of DFX users can't get a good hit!! There is also a longer learning curve on the DFX compared to a Minelab, tho many will doubt that. I also know Minelab users who don't mess with adjustments as well and can't seem to understand why they aren't getting the DEEP signals, its because they don't have it set up for peak performance. I don't know the guy's name tho DFX Gregg will remember(he passed last year) from another forum who consistently pulled old coins as deep as 15-17 inches with his DFX because he tinkered with his adjustments and learned his machine. This post is about a good silver streak and the success of someone on TNet and all I see is this crap. I am guilty at times, but usually when the person is wrong about what he said, but I'm working on just passing over the crap to enjoy the post! Any good detector can pull a coin out of an area with no trash, any top of the line detector can find the good stuff, but its not the detector, its the person holding it that digs the trashy sounding signal that might get the Bust coin, or the person digging pull tab #85 just to get the gold ring that makes the machine! Congrats Capt SE on some outstanding numbers!

i think if you don't truly know the machine,, you'll miss stuff for sure,, heck, i've missed stuff in a small spot i would've sworn there was nothing left worth digging.. sure enough, my tectin buddy went over it and came out with a barber,, different day,, seemed like the same conditions to me........ i have the dfx but won't take the time right now to learn it (peak season)... i'll give it a poke this winter though,,

right now i'm a mxt user , and i've gotten barber dimes at 8 in' undar a root the size of your wrist....
i've had minelabs here at my home,, and wasn't all that impressed,, especially with small gold,, but like any machine,, i didn't know it,, neither did the owner....

I second that motion--Motion carried--I could have fun with a "Relco" and that is why I detect.

JW a d@mn Bounty Hunter Fast Tracker could find the coins at 3". SO I dont know what kind of crack you have been smoking or anyone else who would suggest that a Whites could not find the coins at 3 inches! I find them all day long at 7-9" inches where I live I PROMISE YOU THAT.

Nice silver finds. It sure gets tiring reading all the BS about who's detector is better. Can't you guys just shut up and stop posting the BS so we can read a post without getting a bunch of flak thrown in? The guy found a lot of silver...yeah! Good for him, I don't give a crap what detector he has.

just read the happy parts......

love the silver ! congrats on the awesome finds ;)

That's a whole lot of silver for three days, Congrats!!!
Continued Good luck, & Happy hunting~

odd that we have a few members using minelabs that have to keep saying and using their posts to bash whites detectors as well as all other brands...guys why not stick to the idea of these forums...being supportive of each other? ??? After a while it does get old...and like a few others have said any detector that is decent in an experienced users hands should find the same coins right...you are finding them in the ground right????

It would sure be nice if you guys would stop saying well I found this with a minelab but this other brand would not have found it...does sound silly and immature.... :(

In all fairness, there is one or two people on this forum that slam all others but Whites. So if we are going to post let's post the truth. I agree with Captain SE, having one or two of my threads "hijacked" like this, it is a little annoying. Have you guys heard or seen the Send Private Message option on the forum? If you want to get nasty do it privately. Let's face it people some people like Whites and they will never change and they get satisfaction out of slamming other brands of machines, the same goes for some Minelab users. And there are a few people that no matter what evidence is provided will not back down from their original stance or hypothesis. Aren't any of you married out there? Haven't any of you been wrong whether you were right or not??

Oh and I am very certain Whites and Minelab love all the FREE advertising your doing for your respective brand. Anyway I am putting my opinion in where it wasn't asked.

Hope you all have a great day.

Let's just give Captain Kudos for his finds and go on with the fun hobby of MDing.

Sorry for injecting my opinion where it wasn't asked for.

Nice finds capt, once again!!I will say that if I had the money for a minelab I might buy one just to try it out and see if it were really superior.I've said it before and I'll say it again,I own an inexpensive Fisher and I love it!!I turn it on,set my discriminate to the appropriate level for the site I'm hunting and go,no fiddlef'n with notching and changing settings.Just turn it on and go and she'll give you all she's got capt..I think it's true alot of guys don't take the time to really learn their machines and the results speak for themselves.I have no meters or target ID's and my ear says dig or don't dig not a meter or target ID,and I think my results speak for themselves.I took an 1891 IHP at 8" yesterday and have been in up to my shoulder at the beach for a pringles pull top so depth isn't really a problem and at 3" even in a trashy area any detector with a descent discriminator and a savvy operator could find them. Its not about how much you invested in your machine it's about how much time you've invested into learning to use it to it's full potential.Bootstrap

Honestly guys I was not part of this argument...or whatever you call it...but to keep hearing a couple minelab users saying well I found this with my minelab and whites/other brands could not find it...is getting old....there are guys using even older whites machines that could find the exact items....what not just post your finds not having to jump on other users?????

I thought we were all supposed to be supportive of each other...that certainly is not what I see here...sorry...done with this post...hopefully the bashing ends...good luck everyone! :) ;)

I agree....this dumb argument crap is over with...use what you want and dig what you want. HH!
