Went out last night for a couple of hrs. with my Bro to a site I knew was old but never really found anything. After 3 buttons and many shotgun casings, I got a nice 50 cent hit under an old apple tree out by the trail we walked in on. As I got closer down in the hole it changed to 1c copper hit. It was deep 6-8". One handful and bingo! I could see the date right away. Then I noticed it had a hole in it. I'd like to meet the SOB that ruined this thing. OOPS....Sorry...(RIP). It looks like they put this thing in a vice and popped a hole in it 'cause the front is scuffed up some. The back is pretty wasted too. Am currently working on the 1800 and will post better pics soon. Not a bad couple of outings though. GOOD LUCK to all! Todd

I got you beat this week by one year ( not to mention condtion) with my 1801 Draped Bust http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/topic,155996.0.html found last Sunday. Nice going on yours!

We were discussing holed coins earlier today and one theory is that people sewed them into their clothing for safe keeping. ANother theory was that a coin bearing the year of completion was nailed to the frame of a new house.

So don't be so mad at the dude who did it. There may be a story behind it!
