Today I decided to go back over the area of the farm that I had found some CW era items previously (buttons, bullets).
This time I went slower and from side to side across the area, rather than from top to bottom as I did the first time. I can't believe the stuff I missed the first time!!! I think some of my finds today may be CW era too, but I need the help from some of you with more knowledge than I. I still have more of the area to cover, but I ran out of time today.

*I found two metal #'s. One is a # "6", and the other is a # "1". They both still have one pin or nail in them. I almost threw the "1" away by mistake. When I found it, it just looked like a piece of crumpled up metal. When I got home, I started to unfold it, and noticed it too was a #. I swear I've seen #'s like these somewhere on CW relic sites on the internet?
Any idea if they are CW era?

*Another great looking button. It says "L.S. Davidson - N.Y." on one side, and "Doherty's Patent H.T.&S." on the other side.
Any info on this button?

*Some sort of pin type clip that looks very old.
CW item?

*A small metal tube that looks kind of like a lipstick case. It looks like it was painted black originally, and is the same type of light metal as the #1 and #6 mentioned above.

*An arrow tip? At least it looks like one. It has wood inside the metal, and as you can see, there is a gold like color along one side of the arrow tip. No idea why?

*A copper wire wrapped tightly around something.

*A triangular piece of metal with two beveled edges. Looks like it was broken off of something.

*A candle holder (?). I found this piece behind the farm house, and not with the other relics.

Does anyone recognize some of these items?

Well, that was my day. Hopefully some of this stuff has a history to it. ;D
Thanks again,
MM

I found this picture today of a soldier with the #6 on his hat. As you can see, it is definitely NOT the same style as the #'s I found.
Oh well, I'll keep trying. There has to be a gun, sword, or coin out there somewhere. ;D Ridley & I are going to check out the site with his new machine on Saturday, so I know if I overlooked something good, HE will find it. ;D ;D ;D
(I'm only asking for 50% of his finds. Shhhhh, don't tell him)

I've also seen numbers like those on the posts of old mailboxes and houses (on the posts i.e. on the front porch)..they could have easily been part of the house number..especially if they're held on with small nails.

Interesting finds nonetheless!
