Weather for this time of year is being very kind as we have some sunshine and no rain in my area, so a days detecting was in order for me . l chose a large field of stubble to tackle and started off hoping for something to show up, Did four hours (which is enough for me now days) l lost count of the pieces of lead and shot gun cartridge ends plus the buttons, but l did get my 2nd Roman silver of the year( and no other Romans at all) Roman silver- Antoninus Pius. From AD156/157. Rome mint. Salus seated left feeding serpent coiled around Altar. RSC982 RIC254 Spink 1247.
The Seal is approx 13th 15th Century depicting 2 birds possibly a hawk attacking a dove, legend around it reading starting at a star * ALAS IE SV PRIS translates to "ALAS I AM CAUGHT"
Thanks for looking Hutch.
