So my 7yr old and I hit a park earlier today but that did nothing for my itch for old coins, so when we got home I figured id take a VERY small section of my yard and dig everything, and I mean everything, I get this repeatable mid 50s and mid 70s signal and first target I pull out was the 1907 Indianhead, that makes 20 Indians so far!, as im cleaning It my son pinpoints the hole and says oh here dad its just this, he hands me a 1911 V Nickel!!, SAM_1233.webpI was like really? what the heck lol, so that's an early 1900s coinspill from very close to the time the house was built, man I think im gonna sift the yard in my off time, may yield some killer finds!

im pretty sure that is the age of the house, they said it was built in the 1910s, all I know is that makes me want to excavate the heck out of it, lol how do I explain that to my wife lol!!

Tell her you have moles, but you don't want to kill them. You're gonna dig them up and relocate them.

Awesome leave it to the beginners and the guys that are there 20 minutes find a gold ring and leave. After you have been there all day and then way after the lucky guy left... Take notes from the finders it is not luck.

Great finds! Thanks for sharing...

Sweet! It is so great to be able to spend time with the kids and dig. Those have become some of my fondest finds and memories.
Best of luck and happy hunting!

Sounds like that yard needs to be pounded, nice finds..

Tell her you need help, haaaaaaaaaaaaaaa that nickel looks so sweet, Do you have the 5 X 8 little DD coil yet? I do. lol

I need to get the 5x8, I hear it makes the world of difference in trashy areas

It is like night and day, it would work wonders in your yard and has allot of other benefits like good for water hunting. I have not had my big coil on for a long time now.

I heard u lose depth with it, true?

Very nice finds.. and to do it in the yard with kid in tow... awesome.

Awesome! But, I'd hold off on sifting the yard. You can do that anytime now. Like I said, don't try to find all the "good" stuff as fast as you can. You have your own lil piece of heaven there. As long as you can keep getting permission, you'll have somewhere to hunt for a very long time!

Enjoy your awesome hunting partner for as long as you can!

With the very good target separation of the ATP, and as slow and methodical as you are when you're gridding, I wouldn't think you'd need the smaller coil Chris

Sweet coins Cjon. Your boy will be kicking yours and Dave's butts in no time. :laughing7:
That's great that he is taking interest. Anything to get kids (and adults) off of staying indoors playing video games.
Congrats,
Doug

Awesome all the way around!
The sweetest things in life are free, time you and your son spend together having fun, and an awesome old coin spill!
Well done!

That's what I thought, found out you might lose a inch, if that. But trust me, in a trashy area you will find much more, I disagree with old dude, I speak from experience, otherwise I wouldn't say anything. I have used both extensively, and like the smaller coil much better

Have you used the smaller coil? I'm giving you guys good info, so don't think I'm being rude. We could all get together in a park, school or something and do side by sides. I really like it, it really separates the targets great.I have found very deep stuff. 99 % of my good finds are max 8 inches no more
