The word "Plated" on the back of a pre-20th-century 1-piece button always meant the button was plated with silver. One-piece buttons which were gold-plated were marked with the word "Gilt."

It might be a sternwheeler/river boat motif rather than a train - also think the photo is upside down.

It looks like a riverboat BUT I put the train side by side and it appears to be a match but I havent figured out how to post images and I tried about 10x. I thought it was a good ID but I may be the only one that feels that way LOL.

I believe its a common but interesting work overall train button. There are several versions. Im not sure I have seen this button with a riverboat but Ill check my files.. If you can post a pic of the button may help.

Sorry CBG. I cant find my inbox. As a visitor, I may not have one. (dont know and completely lost)

The only thing Im sure of is this is a work clothes button portraying the train I posted in the link..
