Pretty worn out. Found today at my father in laws property.

His house built in 1930 on Indian Creek Marion County Indiana, has two old cabins from what used to be a skating rink from what he says. He has lived there for 50 years and is 84.

3 cent nickel minted 1865–1889

Super tricky find. Don’t see many of those around here. Way to go!!

Nice! That is a coin that has eluded my coil. Hopefully some more keepers out of that spot.

Bucklister for me.. Congrats

Cool finds! And I bet there is more to come...

Odd little coin but still an unfilled bucketlister for me as well. GRATS! GL next time out!!

Rare one to grab, congratulations on the save

Congrats. Easier to find a silver 3 cent piece imo

Get back our there and find the rest! :laughing7: Looks like a place with LOTS of potential! :icon_thumleft:

Nice old coin shooting! :occasion14:

Nice!!! Congrats!!!

The property sites on a rise above the creek, my wife used to find arrowheads in the creek as a child playing.

Where I found the 3 cent, we also found old square nails. So it appears there was an old structure there. Which would make sense as its a good location for water.

Old growth trees in the area are a decent variety of Ash, walnut and beech. The emerald ash borer killed an ancient ash close to their house that was almost 5 feet in diameter. Once felled when my mother in law stood beside the tree, she was shorter than the diameter of the tree. There are many walnuts between 2 and 3 feet in diameter.

This ground has never been turned over or dug except where the foundations dug for the house, cabins and barns.

New property owners plan to bulldoze it all down, and build a very large house and compound. I plan to detect it when being built for coins and arrowheads.

Very nice old coin. I'm still looking for that one, and the 3 cent silver trime.
