I found these three gold rings during a wading hunt yesterday. The first ring is a "Seal" ring. Its carved in reverse. The three symbols look to me like swans. The motto is Greek and says "UT VIVAS VIGILA". It doesn't have a karat mark but that's how it came out, so I'm going to say 14K. Also the band is missing a good size piece, its possible the mark may have been there. The best part is the inscription on the back. It says
Cath,C Wade
I think it says- Born 9,,th March 1841
Not sure, but- Oct,,83
Its pretty worn on the back, and being that old they must have spoke/written differently than we do now so its a little hard to decipher. Pretty sure Cath is short for "Catherine". It must have been somebody's ring that they had a memorial engraved on the back. I've searched and searched the web for information with no results for the Crest/Coat of Arms or the name. If you have any ideas Id like to hear them. Next ring is a sweet 14K signet ring with the letter "M". Very small size. Last but not least...Unmarked 9-10K "69" Ring. This ring was found an hour later but not 50 feet from the Seal ring. It came out black, the last picture is after tumbling. All came from the north east and in waist deep saltwater. Thanks

Beautiful, congrats! I think you're right, 1841. The last part I think is Oct 83. The birds might be cormorants.

Very nice finds. I especially like the ring with the inscription and to know it is from the 1800s.

And if I'm not mistaken, I believe the motto is written in Latin, not Greek. It stands for “Watch, that you may live” or “Be vigilant if you want to survive.”

The last ring could be "69" Regiment. I'm still researching that one.

That is what it means, I was just tired of typing.
