Waiting for the grass to dry a bit bsfore mowing I walked around where the garden is going,I'd say this hot spell we're having triggered the layin season, saw 3 snappers laying

eggs or at least trying to,they could only dig down about 3 inches and eventually gave up,one in the road when I left.I sure would like to get a few eggs and incubate them,it would be awesome to watch them hatch.

I need to carry an umbrella for harsh morning light.

Later afternoon I went to the Enfield Dam and saw this mallard hen when I looked down into the canal,I really believe by looking at the first pic and then the second one she covers those eggs when shes gone, pretty cool camo.

Them Snappers grab ya they don't let go till it thunders.

I saw one crossing from a field to a woods across the road last week
I helped him across, but didn't think about egg laying, figured it was looking for food

I had to keep circling the one in the road trying to get behind her,she wanted to keep an eye on me.

yeah, it's like they can't tell you mean them no harm

much like supermodels

Great pictures, Chris. It sure is egg-laying time for the snapping turtles around here. They are making the coons and possums very happy! That mallard hen picture is really neat. In a couple of days she'll have a bunch of little fluff balls following her around.
