Was able to make it back to one of my French sites this afternoon.
I decided to sweeten the deal and show up with a 12 pack of Natural light tall boys for the landowner.
Last time i was there i dug a cob and a button, so i had high hopes.
The site isnt real big so i decided to go slow and dig everything above iron.
Ive already been over the property once, but i knew there had to be more there.
I tweaked the settings on the XP and hunted in a light rain for about 5 hours.
Ended up with 3 or 4 Pre-1730 French colonial marines buttons. Unfortunately only one has a complete shank.
One of the buttons im not 100% sure about. Im actually starting to think its not a button, but i hate to rule it out. Its pretty rough, flattened, and has a hole in the middle where the shank would have been, but it does look like i can see an inner ring just inside the outer ring.
Also dug a really nice old marble. I think its glass, but im not sure, and i am hoping someone can tell me more about it.
A 1897 IHP, a small musketball, and a possible bird shot. And one little brass looking square that i was really hoping would be another coin weight, but so far i cannot see any design on it.
Was really hoping for silver today, but im pretty stoked about finding some more 300 year old buttons.
