I got the new CTX out today to check out the same permission I have been hunting with the AT Pro and the Etrac to see if it could pull some finds that the others couldn't locate. All in all it was a bit slow as the other two machines did a great job but I still managed to have a successful hunt. So here are the finds, a few wheats, including one that has been shot, an 1892 Indian Head, and a Silver Rosie. It was a fun day of searching.

Great finds Shortbus!! I love the holed wheat - sounds like bad cereal :laughing7: Have you tried ferrous-coin? ...that is, if there's iron at the location...

Hey TBGO, yeah I was running ferrous-coin most of the day. I am still learning the CTX. Today was my first hunt with it. I can tell I am going to love it. Any pointers?

Try F-C with Combined tones and set the five tones and areas to be how you want for the location in question - if you haven't tried it. I find that it reduces the amount of discriminating I let my mind do - if the target is in one of the zones I'm interested in and is the right size/depth I dig it. This is different compared to how I process 50 Conductive Tones - hard not to judge the signal which may result in passing it by. I'm fairly new to the machine as well, but I had/have the E-Trac so it's not a big leap. I run it wide-open except for FE35.

The Target Trace is another thing I pay close attention to...a wealth of info - one of the best features and almost worth the price :laughing7: ...although I believe it is, fundamentally, just better programming.

XChange2 is awesome, in my opinion. I hated XChange1 and wrote my own, but they nailed it with 2.

HH!
