The rains came down most of the weekend but did break around 2 PM today. I got to the ball field around 4 and had an hour and a half to detect.

I finally made my way over to the 3rd base side of a ball diamond. There about 7 inches down as my hole was refilling with water, I brushed away the mud to reveal a musketball.

Over to another diamond, and oddly enough on the 3rd base side I got a sweet high-tone and dug a wheat. I put the plug back in only to hear another high-tone. Dug into the sidewall to find silver, a 1946 Rosie. The wheat turned out to be a 1950. This is a spill dating from the 1950s.

Go figure. Third base was my home run today x 2.

I really like old ball fields. Good job! 🙌

Thx Ogre1190! Yep, it's real peaceful out here and a treat to pull a keeper every now and then.

Thx ATW! Very cool field to hunt, you may dig a flat button, an occasional modern silver, or clad ..... a mix separated in time.

Nice finds, congratulations! :occasion14:

Congrats on your finds McCdig.

Congrats on eking out that 1950's coin spill McCDig. :icon_thumright:

Nice silver! Wondering do you find more on the third base line or the first base line?

Congrats on the silver and the lead. Nothing like hitting 2 out of the park down the third base line.

Nice diamond hunt

thats a home run great post thanks

Always nice to pull a silver. Congratulations. I don't frown on musket balls either.

Silver is always nice Señor Mike

Thanks Lilo. Good tone and high numbers from a wheat/Rosie spill. Couldn't miss it.

Thx No gold in NY! Same here. On this field musketballs are the exception, so it's great to find them.

Thx Tommy! Yep, it's uncanny how that worked out, but you know how detecting goes ..... never be surprised.

Thx Relicific! That would have made for a great story, too. Still looking for that diamond :)

Thanks Jamie1993! It was wet there, but I think that made the signals pop even more. Yes, you may say that I "scored".
