Back in penny territory! From $10 -

Wheaties: 1937, 1949-D, 1956-D

Canadians: 1964, 1975, 1980

Someone must have unloaded a heck of a lot of shiny 64s since I've been finding them for over a month now.

One other note - I brought back my previous $10, minus any pre-1982 coppers, and $8.38 in zinc was left. I thought there'd be more copper than just over 16%. All pre-82's go in a jumbo size casino cup.

I was going to have a slow night last Friday night, so I picked up $20 in pennies to search during commercials while watching the tube. My pre 1982 count was right at 10%, so your 16% average was better than what I did. I did find a 1955D and a 1919D also, which were bonuses.

Funny you mention the 64, Immy. I got a very nice looking 64 in change yesterday. I've seen 2000's that looked a heck of alot worse for wear than this 64 did. ???

Maybe a dumb question but Im pretty new to searching rolls. Why keep the pre-82 pennies? If copper prices have gone up and its for the copper content, how do you sell these for salvage and what kind of value do they have? Thanks for the help.

I haven't checked since last week on copper prices, but they were worth about 2 cents each last time I looked. Granted, that's not a lot right now, but in time this could go up.

I got right at 5 pounds worth of copper pennies from a box of $25 worth today. I was getting about 15 per roll or so. There were a few that had only like 8 or 9, but several that had 20+. So that's about 30% copper for me on the day. I'll find the exact amount tomorrow when I cash these in.
