headed up to a old house that i got permission to do.yard was difinitely worked over with new leach fields put in etc the owner told me with a lot of fill brought in.one brass spike,11 wheaties a bunch of clad and one lone injun 1892.also this shield type thing with the star.this is the 2nd one i dug like this and curious as to what they were used on?
then i decided to go back to my favorite church green,as usual it still produces! 3 ih's a pretty nice 1864 except for the back blob of corrosion.2 pieces of sterling.the wings ain't marked but its silver(probably was marked on the pin)

Hey...nice digs! What is that metal piece w/ the star and 2 holes...I found the exact same thing at a site of mine and I can't figure out what it is from.

OK, I don't play fair. I put a magnifying glass to the photo on my screen. To me the entire date is double-struck. I could not find it listed at PCGS, but still would like to see another photo of just the date if possible. Please.

i looked under a loop nothing. heres 2 more close ups.i think it was just a bad pic to begin with

Thanks for the new pics. What was obvious to me in the first pics now not nearly so much.

Still. 864 of the date show minor doubling above existing date. And in AMERICA, there is doubling undernearth R (faint), I and last A. Doubling stronger to my eye in the first photos with light source from the top of the coin. Would it pass the 10x test? Can't be sure.
