Hello TNetters. I have been lucky at a new property. LCs:1830, 50, unknown and a 47 with a nail in it? 1907 IH and a sheild nickel that I hope to get a date from. The token is rough, but I am able to get "USE FROST MEDICINE SOLD BY DRUG STORE? The other side is crusty. There is the interesting button with a cool design. The four outer markings apear to resemble eagles? The only back mark are 21 stars. Any thoughts? Then there are the slotted things that appeared to of had reeds in them? The tag is a 1924 Franklin county. The bell is a no. 2 and in great condition. Thanks for looking and Keep Swinging!!

Some very nice finds. The iron on the LC was probably the attachment point for a necklace or whatever else they carried the coins on.

Wow... that is a really a killer haul. Congrats. The '50 LC looks especially sweet.

The reeds are from an accordion. A squeeze box!

I'm thinking that the "nail part" in the large cent is just that, part of a nail from when the hole was being punched in the coin. It may have broken off and gotten stuck, or it may have been a mis-blow with the hammer and the coin and nail went zinging off through the air to become lost. The button I am fairly certain does not have eagles on the front. I think those are just floral elements similar to a fleur de lis. Nice button regardless. Keep hunting that site, I'm betting that there's an old silver or two lurking about.

Congrats on all the large cents! HH!

Nice spot to hunt you have there, my 1817 has a square nail through the eye of it, think it might have been worn on a heavy coats lapel as ID for Pro-Slavery groups. Also have seen some opinions that people would nail one to their houses door frame to mark what year the house was built. Another theory is that witches hate copper so its a anti-witch measure.
