According to coinflation, there is 2 dollars worth of silver in a 40% Kennedy. Why aren't rolls of 40% Kennedy's going for $40.00?

Thanks, so if I do the math correctly, 2 1964 halves have .76 of an ounce of silver.

Nope.

<<Take 90% of that, and you have .36 of an ounce of silver>>

2 times .36 = .... .72 of an ounce.

:-)

My math says .36 times 2 is .72 ;did it twice then tried my solar calculator it too said .72

Just type in search for "US coin silver content", and you will find plenty of sites with weights of ALL coins; think the %40'ers have .14789 Silver content so 7 make an ounce, or 1.03523 ounce

Had big week this past week, added 374 Halves to my hoard and passed (barely) 1000 halves, 43 are %90'ers since started CHR'ing 3 months ago. Of course have had 2 spectacular finds one in a Bank Box the other 17 plus 2 from week before from same bank, solid Silver hand rolls totaling 643 for 2 big finds.

On a related topic, what are some good places to order silver or gold coins from? I am told that there are some large dealers out there that have really great prices because of their size compared to smaller places...is this true, and can anyone recommend one?

one place to start is apmex. may not be the cheapest but you can always check on inventory there. That'll give you some sort of gauge on current demand.

Have you dealt with Apmex, are they reliable? I am looking at their site and prices, they are the cheapest I've seen anywhere. Almost looks too good to be true with premiums so low over spot...so....Is it too good to be true?

It depends on what size of order you are going to make - Here are my top 3 (All very good)

Tulving.com
golddealer.com
apmex.com

You can also try Bulliondirect.com but I would use the Nucleo Exchange.
