My first M/D find

I went to the bank today where the lady told me she had a $1,000.00 bag in the vault. I got my check in this morning, so I took a grand in, and the head teller said "I'm sorry, it is a $2,000 bag, not $1,000." I knew that was a crock, because a 2 grand bag of halves would be too heavy for the tellers to lift. She knew I only had a thousand. So then they had mysteriously 10 rolls appear, when they had none two days ago. She said they were not searched, but there was not one keeper.
So I went out to my truck and called a friend of mine, and told him what was going on. He gave me a check for $1,000, and told me to get them and we'd split the take. So I go back into the bank, and plop the two thousand down and said "I'll take them." The tellers looked kind of upset, and said "I don't know if we can sell them to you, then we'll have none to give out." And they had been telling me for 3 weeks they had no halves with those 2 bags in the vault! Apparently not having halves to give out hadn't been a problem all that time! So I told them "Take back these 10 rolls you just sold me, then you'll have some." So they reluctantly went back and got them.

Both bags came from Louisiana, and the first bag must have been LJ's rejects, not one keeper in the whole bag. The second bag was better:

6 - 64
2 - 65
1 - 66
8 - 67
5 - 68
2 - 69
1 - 02
2 - 03
1 - 04
And one that looks like a mint error, the second to last number in the date is gone.
29 keepers. I had never seen that many halves in one place before. I'm glad our friends Don & April could join in. Don got a lot of newer ones for his book. It took a long time to roll all of them, but we all had a great time. My wife was bummed that we didn't have another bag to CRH. Enjoy the pics!!!

Congratulations on the silver, way to go! I don't understand what's wrong with these tellers, first they don't have any halves so they will order them. They order them and then they don't want to sell them to you,so they give you 10 wrapped rolls that don't have any keepers! Those tellers must have seen some of the silver halves thru the plastic and wanted to hunt it for themselves. >:( I'm glad you told her to take back the rolls. LOL

I'm curious the bag with the blue tie, is that the bag that had NO silver? I received a bag similar to that, canvas but it has a red plastic tie and it had no silver. My other $1000.00 bag looked similar to your other one and it had a decent amount of silver halves. Also was the count right on for both bags, any shortages?

Kudos Scott.....you were due! I am so glad you found some silver. 29 keepers is a great day. That is a nice pile of 64's too.

That coin missing the number on the date is cool looking. Definitely a keeper.

WTG buddy!

That 74 looks like a probable strike thru error (piece of foreign material on the die in the striking process). Congrats!!

That looks like fun.
Never had a bag to look through yet.

Good job Scotto, and congrats too for your persistence.

Though "always" fun, welcome back to the rewarding side of CRHing..............finding keepers. 8)

My bags were the other way around. The one with the blue tie held the silver.

No shortages, a quarter was in the bag on the right also, but there was exactly 2,000 halves in each bag.

Thanks for the comments all!
