43rd Paterson N.J. half gallon script jug...

My newest addition, a fantastic Scheuer & Fleischer 1/2 gallon two city script jug. Thanks to a trade I was able to put together for two friends I was offered this jug and jumped at the chance to add it to my collection. This makes 43 1/2 gallon scripts....

Scheuer and Fleischer, Cash Grocers, was established in 1860 in Newark, it would become the largest retail grocery house in New Jersey. In 1887, Simon Scheuer opened a branch in Paterson and made Nathan Fleischer a partner, with other branches opened later in Harrison, Newark and Orange. They remained partners until 1893, after that it became S. Scheuer and Company, managed by Selig and Leo Scheuer of Newark.
