Isn't it great! Congratulations on your first quarter. Yup, that canslaw can be annoying. I just clean it up so it isn't bothering me next time.

Quarters from 1965 to the present are an alloy of copper and nickel.

I hate it when I find a dime or quarter just a year or two from being silver... The other day I found both a 1965 and 66 in the same hole... Aww so close! It happens alot to me.

Sorry it's not silver...1964 and earlier is what your looking for with regard to silver coins.

i wish you the best and hope you find silver on your next hunt. but the other posters are right silver coins are 1964 and earlier :tongue3: my silver rang as a dime at 80 81 good luck and HH

It's silver colored :laughing7: Thanks for the info. OhioDeb

Don't worry the silver will come eventually, my house was built in the 30's and I went over every inch of it and not 1 silver ??? So far only 2 silvers this year and that is with about 100 plus hours in the field.

even for us hunters that are very active... silver isn't that common... I have only found 10 this year and all are dimes. They are harder and harder to find.

congrats on the quarter. maybe next time you will find the silver!

Be thorough and patient---good things WILL come----a lot of my good finds have come from the places that you would not expect anything to be there (like a farmers field with no prior history of a home)---remember--the ground has been there forever--be adventurous and hunt "off the beaten path"--you will be surprised and rewarded---guaranteed
