Got back to the same site I hit earlier in the week. The highlight of the day is what I think to be a dovetail. It measures 2 1/4” long, the base is ground, and the blade is beveled. It has damage to the blade and shoulder but it made my day. The other finds include a Brewerton, scraper, and possible pestle.

I got a chance to thank the landowner. He is a history buff and was happy to see my finds. He's gonna take me to more property later this week.

Nice finds, I would be thrilled with those..
Thanks for sharin Rich.

Molly.

Rich - nice Dovetail. I also live 4 years in PA and had a hard time finding points. I found a handful, but without digging good spots were hard to come by. Where are you in PA? I lived in the Lehigh Valley.

Yeah buddy, nice dove and brewerton. Looks like a good archaic field to me. It's always nice to have hunting permission from land owners who appreciate history.

Thanks folks. It was a tough hunt as the ground was like concrete. The dove isn't pretty but it's an early archaic type I haven't found. Twitch, I live in SWPA and hunt watersheds that drain into the Ohio River.

Rich, very nice finds. Any day you find a Dovetail is a great day. I honestly don't think your Dove is damaged on the blade. It looks like there is flaking inside the "break" and it was probably utilized as a Spokeshave. I also think your large stone is a Pestle or Mano of some type.

Fantastic Rich !! Man you are really starting to find some killer stuff. That Dove and brewerton are nice. Good job with the landowner. They are our greatest resource.
Happy huntin,
TnMtns

good hunt
finally somebody posted a scraper
nice points
i bet next time you go it will be even better

Thanks again everyone. Chong it's funny you say you like the scenery. Ten year's ago I was in New Mexico from May - July and enjoy the desert more.

I just got around to taking a pic of what Steve described, and can't believe Steve noticed the blade damage as being a spokeshave. Without his help, I would have called it plow damage. Here's a pic that shows the flaking in the concave blade area. Was the spokeshave thought to be used to scrape dart shafts?
