Yes it snowed in Boston on Saturday. I'm still in disbelief. I've lived in Mass my whole life and I've never seen snow in May! Anyway I had a very small window of time to detect. So I thought about it: Should I go where I've detected and beat my head against the wall or should I try something new? There was a park near my apt that had the right age for silver. I had detected it for a couple minutes in the past and gave up after a couple bottle caps. My mentality has changed a bit since then. The park had probably been renovated a few times and graded but I thought I'd try this series of hills that probably saw little landscaping or grading over the years. Sure enough I found this nicely worn SLQ within about 5 minutes of turning on my detector. It was next to a tree that had to be at least 70 years old... What a find for me! I haven't found silver in a couple months so it felt as good as you could imagine! It's funny the worn SLQ's give off the appearance of the liberty figure holding a musket or long gun at her side... at least that's what it looks like to me. Great coins to find. If this coin could talk it looks like it was in circulation for a long time.
So I kept detecting. The place was super trashy. There was a retaining wall that had fallen down and allowed the dirt it was holding back to erode down the hill. This dirt was either fill or contained the trash from houses up from it. There was a lot of broken china mixed in which gives it some kind of age. I went on to find a couple Wheaties and this nice medallion marked sterling. You can tell that it's on the bigger side. The date on it is not a date for the age of it that's when somebody saw an apparition of Mary. It was a great short hunt and I will be sure to go back and give it some more tries as I think this can't be the only stuff there. Thanks for reading and thanks to the treasure gods for quenching my treasure thirst... for now!!!!
