Haven't been online much the last few weeks because of some personal issues I'm dealing with...and I needed to hunt...which I hoped would clear my head a little. :angel7:

What a looooong day...with a lot of drivin'...BUT with a wonderful friend.

Met up with forum member T-Bucket at the halfway point...which is a park we hunt EVERY time....and the signals are few and far between.

On this occasion the signals weren't so much few OR far....as they were more like nonexistent. ;D

We struggled for nearly 2 hours and all I had was 1 Roosey...and nothing else other than 3 nails in my pouch. :tongue3:

T-Bucket did find a barber here...but he too had a good head start on a scrap iron shop. ;D

After a quick meal we decided to road trip to some parks up his way in the St. Louis area.

I usually don't let myself get that far away from home...but dad has been doing well over the last 2 weeks with his new dialysis machine... so I figured I would enjoy the day.

The first park we hit was one where you have just as good a shot at getting mugged ;D...as you do finding silver...but this place has given up some sweet oldies for me on previous trips....so we gave it a shot.

After a few hours T-Bucket popped out a Merc and a SWEET SLQ with his E-Trac.

I was using my SE and hunting in the heavy iron/trash section. Actually the park is all pretty much iron OR trash. Heck there's more wine bottle caps than there is dirt at this place. :laughing9:

After about 2 hours I got a nice "warble" that nearly buried the depth meter.
Problem was that the sound was jumbled in with a crappy sound of a screw cap.

I almost passed it up...but decided to give it a shot.

I couldn't get it to pinpoint where the "warble" was coming from because there was obviously iron which pulled the pinpoint a good 8" away....so while in normal hunt mode I wiggled the coil over where the good jumbled sound was coming from...and dug a plug.

I was thinking it could be a wheatie mixed in with a screwcap...but was pleasantly surprised with an 1840 seated dime. :icon_thumleft:

Feeling lucky not having to shoot our way in the front ;D...knife our way at the back 8)...and not getting mugged yet :laughing7:...we decided to move on to another park.

Same old story here...this place has been hit by nearly everyone in the business...but last year I pulled my 1916D Merc out of here...so we figured we'd hit it one more time.

After nearly 3 hours...T-Bucket popped out a repeat of the previous finds...another barber and another merc....putting him at 5 silver for this long day. :notworthy:

He was absolutely on fire with his E-Trac.

I had been on a long dryspell...but then got a good warble which hit and repeated from only one of three angles I tried.

I dug a good sized plug to nearly 8" but when I ran the probe...NOTHIN'. ???

I widened the hole a little bit...okay...okay...a LOT. :hello2:

I then rechecked it with the probe and this time it sang at the very bottom and back into where I had tunneled more turf out.

What a shocker to see not one..but 2 greyish/silver discs roll out when I scraped back into the tunneled area. :icon_thumleft:

Even more of a shocker to see that one was a barber...and one was a merc which gave me a silver dime grand slam. :headbang:

What a great day hunting with a friend...and we both had some sweet digs...including a few wheaties not mentioned.

4 silver days are a rarity around these here parts...so for both of us to find multiple shiny discs was awesome.

At least I found some peace and was able to clear my head...even if it was only for a short while. :angel7:

Woo! Hoo!!!! Whattahunt!!!!!   :icon_king:

Bryce, you & he were rockin' & rollin'!

Congrats on the great finds! I'm glad dad is doing well!

I gotta laugh when I go out & remember how hunting helps clear your head. For me, it gives my brain time to go into overdrive about things I'm trying not to think about! Maybe that's why I still don't have a seated... :icon_scratch: :)

Great finds. Congrats on the Grand Slam.

Welcome back friend ! I was beginning to wonder what became of you - Very nice old seated !
don't be a stranger , Argentium.

Thanks Neal. You will find a seated before long old friend.
Swingin' the coil sure does take my depression away...even though it might be for a short while.

Congrats on the nice silver finds. I will always keep your father in my prayers.

Nice to see you posting again. Life deals us some bad hands sometimes. You have to play them all, there is no passing. Just play them one at a time.

Nice Digs Bryce!

Another Dime Grand Slam for you!
Five silvers for T!

You guys earned 'em all. Nicely done!

I haven't been online much, or even out all that much with the new e-trac.
Been workin and driving back and forth to take care of things for my parents. Kinda like you been doing.

I have found some, but just can't seem to get around to taking pics and posting.

Wishing you and your family all the best!
Mark
